Walking on Hemei Historical Street, without paying attention, you may miss the delicate wooden door of the shop. If you push the door and enter, you will be surprised to find out that established in 1991, GaoYa Xin has been operated here for nearly 25 years. The owner, Ms. Gao Ya Xin came from Miouli, and every day she prepares the soup by cooking dozens of vegetables and fruit including cabbages, carrots, and apples. The health concept is very different from traditional salty authentic flavor of Hakka cuisine. The owner specializes in flat rice noodles cuisine, and flat rice noodles used at the restaurant are handmade by her sister. In order to provide customers various selections, the owner even researched and developed more than 25 new products including onion oil, pickled cabbage, Thai sweet and sour sauce, and dumplings in chili oil to go with dumpling soup and noodles for various combinations.


Pumpkin & Rib Cut Flat Rice Noodles is prepared with pumpkin, lotus roots, white tofu, gourd, mushrooms, and rib cut for the sweet and refreshing flavor.

The art talent of the owner’s husband has been shown in each dish. With Ms. Gao’s cooking skills, the couple designed Hakka flat rice noodles to incorporate with pumpkins, cheese, and lotus leaves. They of course won Honorable Mention Award in the 2012 International Beef Noodles Festival with their Pumpkin Beef Noodles. In the same year, they won the Third Place Prize in Taipei Flat Rice Noodles contest with healthy Polygonum & Rib Cut Flat Rice Noodles. In the final contest of 2013 Taipei International Beef Noodles, their special creativity was recognized by the well-known international chef, Mr. Franklin, who videotaped the whole preparation process and used the tape as teaching material. These explain outstanding performance of the store in each contest did not depend on luck but true skills.

Kao Xing Ya’s good cooking skills and Huang Jia-chou’s artistic talent help them to build their restaurant kingdom.

This 25-year restaurant on Hemei Historical Street in Changhua is the winner of the Third Place Prize of Flat Rice Noodles Contest of Taipei International Beef Festival.
