Wangchao Fish Restaurant is located at the opposite of Shimen Elementary School in Taoyuan. Its owner, Mr. Wang Yu-ying, learned his cooking from a Sichuan chef, Mr. Fu Zhou-yun. Later he returned to his hometown to take the chef post at a fish restaurant for a period of time. Finally, he decided to open his own restaurant on Fish Street (Wenhua Rd. in Shimen). He has been engaged in the catering industry for three decades.

Unlike ordinary dishes offered at general fish restaurants, at Wangchao, you can taste fish cuisine with Hunan, western, and Japanese elements. Not only the braised, spicy sauced, and deep fried fish but also creative fish cuisine are offered to present richer and diverse design of fish cuisine. In 2008, Mr. Wang led his team to win the champion prize of Banquet Group of Taoyuan’s “Famous Restaurants and Fish Festival” contest. When serving, the tasty, attractive, and aromatic fish cuisine attracted many judges. The beautiful dish arrangement impressed visitors at the site. They were busy in taking photos and posting and could not wait to share the joy with friends and families.

Squirrel fish is one of the most popular dishes at the restaurant, and it goes well with sweet and sour sauce.

Wangchao’s special healthy dish is yam stir fried with scallop and eggs, a dish to refresh your taste buds.


Golden fish is cooked with sweet and sour pineapple to help you to release from greasy dishes.

Wangchao mostly offers grass or black carp cuisine. You with a small group can order side dishes of fish or share a whole fish with other table. For a bigger group, you can directly order a whole fish. Fish at weight of 1.2 kilograms can be cooked for one dish. You can also decide how many dishes according to size and weight of fish. Here offers you spacious and bright dining environment. You can also reserve your table at a separate room. The restaurant, thus, is ideal for gatherings with friends and families or even wedding and other celebrations.

【賞味老舖】 “Squirrel fish” is a famous dish of traditional Han Chinese in Jiangsu province. It is named after its shape; after being cook, the dish looks like a squirrel. It is said that when Qianlong Emperor went to the south of Yangtze River, there were squirrel carp fish in Suzhou. Nowadays yellow croaker, carp and mandarin fish are often used as major ingredient for this dish, and it is colorful, crispy and sweet and sour.
